W07 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal
Looking at The 7 Habits, Habit 2, “Begin with the End in Mind,” feels like it hits closest to home. This habit is about picturing where you want to end up and then planning your actions to get there. Rather than just reacting to life, it’s like creating a roadmap for what you truly want. Having this clear focus helps keep me on track and makes my daily choices feel intentional and meaningful. Knowing my end goal makes me less distracted by things that don’t support it, which brings more purpose to my actions and keeps me grounded.
The seven habits build up from personal growth (Habits 1-3) to success with others (Habits 4-6). Habit 1, “Be Proactive,” emphasizes taking charge of actions, which builds reliability and confidence, essential traits when working with others. In my experience as a Scrum Master, I saw Habit 5, “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood,” play a critical role in my work with teams. Truly understanding each team member’s perspectives and concerns before offering solutions made problem-solving more effective and built trust. This approach also taught me how listening carefully brings out the best in others and creates a stronger team dynamic. Habit 5 reminded me that relationships grow when we value others’ perspectives, making collaboration far more rewarding.
This week, I was also inspired by Guy Kawasaki’s point about focusing on changing the world instead of just making money. He believes that success tends to follow naturally when you’re driven by something meaningful. His advice aligns well with Covey’s ideas, showing that a strong sense of purpose and a solid plan lead to a fulfilling and impactful life. Covey’s habits provide a practical guide for building a life that combines personal success with positive contributions to others, a goal I aim to work toward every day.
